Pressure blast analyser gauge determine blast nozzle wear using this convenient, portable (8" long)

gauge. It is also known as Nozzle orifice gauge. A small black marker located in the cap is used to

mark the side of the gauge. Once inserted through the back end of the blast nozzle and twisted, the

gauge is removed and the nozzle opening is revealed by correlating the scale marking with black

marker to the scale on the gauge (1/4" to 5/8"). Air consumption (CFM 100 psi) is also indicated.

The Nozzle Orifice Gauge is very simple and recommended for coating applicator, painting

contractors, and inspection of coatings.

The average of a series of measurements provides an indication of the surface roughness and allows the surfaces to be compared as blasting proceeds.

Surface Profile
The degree of profile on the surface affects a coating’s overall performance. The height of the profile (measured from the peaks to the troughs) determines aspects such as adhesion, coverage and overall volume of coating used. If the profile is too large the amount of coating required to ensure adequate coverage increases, otherwise there is a danger that the peaks remain uncoated - allowing rust spots to occur. If the profile is too small, there may be an insufficient key to produce adequate adhesion, leading to premature coating failure. Ensuring the correct surface preparation optimises the performance of the coating and material usage.

Product Description
The Corrosion Pit Gauge will allow the peak to valley height of corroded surface in the corroded surface.  Corrosion Pit Gauge can be used on most of the surfaces for determination of pit in corroded surfaces, corrosion coupons, corroded pipes, plant equipments. Measurement can be carried accurately to the level of micron.

The gauge is initially set to zero with the glass zero plate and the foot is then placed on the corroded profile. The foot sits on top of the peaks and the sharp stylus travels to the bottom of the valley, allowing the gauge to display the peak to valley height. A number of measurement can be made and the average taken.

The corrosion pit gauge is used to measure the effects of corrosion i.e. pitting and cavity depth etc.

Digital Corrosion Pit Gauge can be used with measurement resolution of 1 micron and precision measurements are possible even at critical locations.

In order to perform satisfactorily, coatings must adhere to the substrates on which they are applied. There are three different adhesion test procedures to assess the resistance of paints to separate from the substrate. The cross cut test, also described as cross-hatch, uses a blade to cut through the coating to the substrate. At least two cuts are made that intersect at 90 degrees to get a right angle lattice pattern. The cross-cut area is observed for any adhesion failure. The second method to test the coating adhesion is using a stylus or loop that an increasing amount of weight is applied until the coating is removed from the substrate. The third method called pull-off adhesion, measures the amount of tensile stress to pull the coating off the substrate. A dolly is glued to the coating surface, after the glue is cured, a testing apparatus is attached to the loading fixture and aligned to apply tension perpendicular to the test surface. The force applied is gradually increased and monitored until either a plug of coating material is detached, or a specified value is reached.

BGD 500 Digital Pull-off Adhesion Tester is a portable, hand-operated instrument which is used to measure the force required to pull a specified test diameter of coating away from its substrate using hydraulic pressure. The pressure is displayed on a digital LCD and represents the coating’s strength of adhesion to the substrate.

It evaluates the adhesion (pull-off strength) of a coating by determining the greatest tensile pull-off force that it can bear before detaching. Breaking points, demonstrated by fractured surfaces, occur along the weakest plane within the system consisting of dolly, adhesive, coating layers and substrate.
